HWF Director of Operations receives regional award
Happy World Foundation Inc. Director of Operations Amy Anderton received the SWCOLT (Southwest Conference on Language Teaching)’s 2020 Friend of the Profession Award. Amy Anderton has been the Director of World Languages in the Dallas Independent School District for the last 5 years and currently holds the office of President of the North Texas Chapter of American Association of Teachers of German. Amy has taught German, Spanish, ESL, Social Studies, Language Arts, International Folk Dance, and Exploratory Languages, and has been Department Chair, Assistant Principal, Coordinator and Director during her 31 years in public education in Texas and Virginia. As Director of Operations of Happy World Foundation Inc., she and Akash Patel are busy connecting students and schools across the country and the world in an effort to fight racism and bigotry, facilitate intercultural exchange and promote global citizenship. Her volunteer work with HWF earned her a Presidential service award in December 2009. Amy was also recognized in 2018 by the International Korean Educators Network for her support and expansion of Korean programs in Dallas, and recently keynoted the International Korean Textbook Research conference. Amy is a proud mother of two children: Mark, 25, fluent in German because of German partial immersion, and Alina, 17, due to currently being on a Congressional Bundestag Youth Exchange in Germany, and has been married to Johnny for 17 years.
